Side effects: Tranexamic acid is generally well tolerated. Common side effects may include headache, stomach upset, sinus or nasal symptoms, muscle or joint aches, and skin rash. Rare but serious risks include blood clots in the legs, lungs, or other areas. In very rare cases, these clots may be life-threatening. The risk is higher in people with a history of clotting disorders, previous blood clots, or those taking certain hormonal therapies or birth control. Do not use tranexamic acid if you have a clotting disorder or a history of blood clots. Seek medical attention right away if you experience leg pain or swelling, chest pain, shortness of breath, coughing up blood, sudden numbness, weakness, or vision changes.
