Finasteride 1mg Pills

How does it work? Finasteride decreases the amount of DHT, the hormone that causes death of scalp hair follicles in genetically predisposed men. 

How well does it work? Clinical trials found that a daily 1mg dose halted hair loss in 86% of men, while 65% experienced a significant increase in hair growth!

How do I use it? Take one tablet daily - as simple as that!

Side effects? Finasteride is generally well tolerated. Less common side effects can include anxiety, depression, gynecomastia, suicidal ideation, decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, and decrease in semen load. Some patients reported these symptoms continuing after treatment cessation. If you experience any concerning side effects, we recommend stopping the medication and consulting with your primary care physician.

Topical Minoxidil 6%

Minoxidil increases blood supply to hair follicles and pushes hair follicles into the growth phase.

Why do we recommend minoxidil to be used with finasteride? Studies have shown that the combination of minoxidil plus finasteride is more efficacious for hair loss than finasteride alone. In one study at the one year mark 80% of men treated with finasteride, 59% of men treated with minoxidil twice daily, and 94% men treated with the combination showed improvement!

How do I use it? Rub the solution into your scalp twice daily. 

Side effects? Side effects are rare but can include headache, redness, irritation and itching at the site of application, unusual hair growth on the face, arm, and back. Contact your primary care doctor or seek medical help if you experience any of these: Chest pain or palpitations, dizziness or fainting, skin rash, blisters, itching, sudden weight gain, or swelling of the hands or feet. You may experience increased shedding the first month of usage.

Topical Finasteride 0.3% & Minoxidil 6% (180ml)

This option is great for those who don't want to take oral finasteride, but still want the benefit of a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor.

How does topical finasteride compare to oral finasteride? Studies have shown comparable levels of DHT reduction in the scalp of patients taking 1mg finasteride orally versus those applying finasteride 0.25% topically daily.

How do I use it? Rub the solution into your scalp once daily.

Side effects? Side effects are rare but can include skin irritation and unusual hair growth. Because systemic absorption is less than oral finasteride the risk of side effects is low, however side effects could include erectile dysfunction, gynecomastia, anxiety, increased risk of high grade prostate cancer, and depression. Seek medical attention if you experience any of the following: Chest pain or palpitations, dizziness or fainting, skin rash, blisters, itching, sudden weight gain, or swelling of the hands or feet. 

Minoxidil 1.25mg Pills

How does oral minoxidil compare to topical minoxidil? Studies have shown similar outcomes between 1mg oral minoxidil and 5% topical minoxidil twice daily. 

How do I take it? Take a half tablet daily. We recommend using a pill cutter to split your tablets.

Side effects? Hair growth on the body and face is the most common side effect. Less common side effects can include low blood pressure and swelling in the legs. Some may experience headaches, although this typically improves over time. Rare side effects include pericardial and pleural effusion. Seek medical attention if you experience any of the following: Chest pain or palpitations, shortness of breath, dizziness or fainting, rash, swelling of the hands or feet, or any other worrisome symptoms.

Conceving a Child: Please note that finasteride can decrease sperm count, sperm motility, and concentration. Although studies show that this does not impact fertility, our medical team recommends stopping finasteride for 3-6 months prior to attempting to conceive a child. After 3-6 months sperm count, motility, and concentration return to baseline.

2-in-1 Hair Max Pill

How do I take it? Take one capsule by mouth once daily. 

How is this different from taking them separately? This compounded capsule combines finasteride 1.1 mg and minoxidil 2.5 mg in a single pill. Compared to our standard oral options, it contains slightly more finasteride and a higher dose of minoxidil, which may improve hair growth and maintenance. Higher doses may also increase the chance of side effects.

If you experience bothersome side effects, stop the medication and consult your primary care physician.
